People's Liberation Army air force commander, made a 上将 (general) in 1955, who led Chinese air units in the Korean War and later held senior air force and regional commands.

Not to be confused with the novelist 刘震云. Before the air force he was a ground commander: in 1949 he became the first commander of the 39th Army, which a year later fought China's first battle against US troops in Korea.
