Two famous referents: (1) the actual mountain in Hainan, named for its five peaks resembling fingers; (2) in 《西游记》 (Journey to the West), the Buddha turns his hand into a vast mountain and traps the Monkey King beneath it for 500 years until 唐三藏 frees him. The line 'as long as you can't escape from the Buddha's palm' (跳不出如来佛的手心) is the proverb that grew out of this scene.
