After Sun Yat-sen's (孙中山) death in 1925, cities across China (and the diaspora — Singapore, Vancouver) renamed parks in his honor. Beijing's Zhongshan Park is a notable case: the grounds were the Ming-Qing 社稷坛 (Altar of Land and Grain) before 1914.
