Lu Yan was the pen name of Wang Luyan (
王鲁彦), an early-20th-century writer associated with the May Fourth literary movement. He is best known for short stories depicting rural Zhejiang, including
柚子 (yòuzi, 'Pomelo') and the novel
童年的悲哀 ('Sorrows of Childhood').
