Beyond ham: Jinhua is also the hometown of the Tang poet Luo Binwang (骆宾王) and home to Hengdian World Studios (横店影视城) in nearby Dongyang — the largest film studio complex in the world, where most Chinese period dramas are shot.
The dry-cured ham from Jinhua, prized for over a thousand years and used as the umami backbone of countless Chinese dishes — Cantonese soups, Buddha Jumps Over the Wall, etc. Reportedly tribute to the Song court.
