萨拉迈

萨拉迈 is a phonetic rendering used in subtitles for foreign personal names like Salami (Persian/Arabic surname Salāmī), Italian surname Salame, or place names. The sausage 萨拉米 usually takes a slightly different ending. Ancient Salamis (the Greek island and the Cypriot ruined city) is also sometimes 萨拉米斯 or 萨拉迈.

萨 ('Sa-') + 拉 ('-la-') + 迈 ('-mi'/'-mai'). 萨 is the universal transliteration syllable for English 'Sa-' (萨拉 Sarah, 萨马尔 Samar, etc.).
