A Cantonese dim-sum staple. Shredded daikon (白萝卜) is mixed with rice flour, dried shrimp, Chinese sausage and dried scallops, steamed into a firm cake, then pan-fried in slices so the outside crisps while the inside stays tender. Homonymous with 好彩头 "good omen" in Cantonese (菜头 choi-tau), making it lucky New Year food.
