维博

维 (wéi, 'to maintain / fiber') is a stock transliteration character for English 'V-/W-' opening syllables (维克托 Victor, 大卫 David). 博 (bó, 'broad/learned') gives a 'bo' tail, often used for Western names ending in '-bo' or '-bow'. Note: not to be confused with 微博 (Wēibó, the Chinese microblog Sina Weibo) — different first character entirely (微 'tiny' vs 维 'fiber').

Be careful — 微博 (Wēibó, Sina Weibo) and 维博 (Wéibó, the name) sound nearly identical but use different first characters and different tones (wēi 1st-tone vs wéi 2nd-tone). In casual handwriting they can look almost the same, so context (a tech company vs a person) is usually how you tell them apart.
