grammar
学家 ("study-expert") is the noun suffix for academic specialists: 经济学家 economist, 物理学家 physicist, 历史学家 historian, 哲学家 philosopher, 数学家 mathematician. The 学 (study) is what distinguishes a specialist from a 家 generalist (作家 writer, 画家 painter, no 学).
mistakes
Don't confuse 经济学家 (economist) with 经济学者 (economic researcher/scholar) or 经济专家 (economic expert); 学家 is the formal academic title.
