Chinese universities have hundreds of 社团 — from 动漫社 (anime club) to 辩论社 (debate club) to 汉服社 (hanfu club). Joining at least one is almost a rite of passage, and there's a dedicated recruitment week called 百团大战 (battle of a hundred clubs).
