Xi Jinping announced China's '30·60 goals' at the UN General Assembly in September 2020: 碳达峰 by 2030 and 碳中和 by 2060. The pair became omnipresent in 2021 policy discourse. Named a 2021 Top 10 buzzword by 《咬文嚼字》.

usage

Almost always paired with 碳中和 (carbon neutrality). Also seen as 双碳 'dual-carbon' (目标/战略). Not used in casual conversation outside of news, policy or ESG contexts.
