mistakes

畜 has two readings. As a verb, raising animals, it is xù: 畜养, 畜牧. As a noun, the animals themselves, it is chù: 家畜, 牲畜.

畜养 is written and fairly formal. In everyday speech just say 养: 养猪, 养羊.
