Tips

history
Also called 汴水. It followed the Sui 通济渠 (605) from the Yellow River past Kaifeng towards the Huai, and under the Northern Song it carried most of the grain that fed the capital. It silted up after the Song lost the north, and little of it can be seen today.
culture
白居易's ci 《长相思》 opens with it: 汴水流,泗水流 'the Bian flows on, the Si flows on'.
