Old records say the bark of the gǔ tree can be made into mulberry-bark paper.
Tips
history
Not used in modern Chinese, which calls this tree 构树 or 楮. Note it is not the same as the rice-grain character 穀 (grain); 榖 has the tree radical and means the paper mulberry.
mistakes
Do not confuse 榖 (tree radical, paper mulberry) with the very similar 穀 (grain radical, cereal), the traditional form of 谷.
