Tips

history
The Jin Li Mi was raised by his grandmother after his father died and his mother remarried. Summoned to office by the Jin emperor, he asked to stay with her until her death, in a memorial that gave the idioms 日薄西山 'the sun sinking behind the western hills' and 急于星火 'more urgent than a shooting star'. An old saying holds that anyone who can read it without weeping is not a filial son.
history
The Sui Li Mi took over the Wagang rebels in 617 and issued a proclamation against 隋炀帝 that gave 罄竹难书, crimes too many to record on all the bamboo of the southern hills. Beaten in 618, he went over to the Tang and was killed after rebelling again.
