曼哈顿区

Manhattan is the smallest but most densely populated of New York City's five boroughs and home to Times Square (时代广场), Central Park (中央公园), Wall Street (华尔街), and the Empire State Building (帝国大厦). The name comes from the Lenape word 'Mannahatta' meaning 'island of many hills.'

usage

区 (qū, 'borough/district') is appended for the administrative-district sense; just 曼哈顿 alone is the more common everyday name. Other NYC boroughs: 布鲁克林 (Brooklyn), 皇后区 (Queens), 布朗克斯 (Bronx), 史泰登岛 (Staten Island).
