China's weather alert system uses four colors, from least to most severe: 蓝色 (blue) → 黄色 (yellow) → 橙色 (orange) → 红色 (red). The same color scheme applies to 台风预警 (typhoon), 高温预警 (heat), 寒潮预警 (cold wave), etc.
usage
Broken down: 暴雨 = torrential rain (暴 means 'violent'), 预警 = early warning. Routinely pushed to phones and shown as a scrolling subtitle on state TV during storm season.
