Counted alongside 岳飞, 韩世忠 and 刘光世 as one of the Four Generals who rescued the Song court after the Jingkang catastrophe, 张俊 is remembered less favorably: he sided with Chancellor 秦桧 in fabricating charges against Yue Fei, and a kneeling iron statue of him still faces Yue Fei’s tomb in Hangzhou.
