Though counted alongside Yue Fei (
岳飞), Han Shizhong (
韩世忠) and Liu Guangshi (
刘光世) as one of the Four Generals who rescued the Song court after the Jingkang humiliation, Zhang Jun is remembered less favorably than his peers — he sided with Chancellor Qin Hui (
秦桧) in fabricating charges against Yue Fei, and a kneeling iron statue of him still faces Yue Fei's tomb in Hangzhou.
