One of the most widely known European fairy tales in China, introduced via translations of the Brothers Grimm (格林童话) and Charles Perrault. The 大灰狼 (big gray wolf) from this tale became the default 'bogeyman' figure in Chinese children's stories.
Collection by the Brothers Grimm (1812); the standard Chinese source for Little Red Riding Hood and many other Western fairy tales taught in primary school.
