人民大会堂, the Great Hall of the People on Tiananmen Square, completed in 1959 for the PRC's tenth anniversary. It seats 10,000 in its main auditorium and hosts the annual National People's Congress (
全国人大) and CPPCC (
政协) sessions, as well as state banquets for foreign leaders.
