Literally 'to leave the world' — a euphemism for dying.

他的父亲去年去世了。

Tā zài jiǔshí suì shí qùshì.

She passed away at the age of ninety.

他去世以后，家人非常悲伤。

usage

去世 is the standard respectful euphemism for death. More formal: 逝世 (to pass on). Blunt: 死 (to die). Colloquial: 走了 (gone).
