Tips

usage
十五夜 'the fifteenth night' is the night of the fifteenth of the eighth month, the Mid-Autumn Festival. 郎中 here is an official title in a government ministry, not 'doctor': the poem was sent to a friend surnamed Du who held that post.
culture
In twenty-eight characters it moves from a pale courtyard, where crows roost and cold dew silently wets the osmanthus, to everyone looking up at the same moon. It is one of the poems most often recited at 中秋节.
