Zhège xuétú fēicháng qínjǐn, lǎoshīfu hěn xǐhuān tā.

This apprentice is very diligent, and the master craftsman likes him very much.

勤谨 has a slightly old-fashioned, literary tone. In casual modern Chinese you'd more often hear 勤奋 ('hardworking') or 认真 ('conscientious').
