Ruled by the Han Chinese Zhang family from 凉州, it kept the Hexi Corridor at peace and stayed loyal in name to the Jin while the north fell apart, until 前秦 conquered it in 376.
usage
前 "Former" sets it apart from the other Liang states of the period: 后凉, 南凉, 北凉 and 西凉.
