俅 is not used alone. Its classical sense survives in the reduplication
俅俅 ('respectful-looking', describing a ceremonial cap in the
《诗经》). It is also the old transcription character in
俅人, an old name for the Derung people. The person radical
亻 gives the human-bearing image;
求 supplies the sound.
