法氏囊 is the bursa of Fabricius, an immune organ unique to birds, named after 17th-century Italian anatomist Hieronymus Fabricius (法布里修斯). The disease was first described in Gumboro, Delaware (USA) in 1962, hence the alternative name 'Gumboro disease'.
