grammar
令人 + adjective is an extremely common pattern: 令人失望 (disappointing), 令人感动 (touching), 令人惊讶 (surprising). More formal than 让人.

In ancient China, 令 referred to official decrees. 县令 (xiànlìng) was the county magistrate. Today 命令 (mìnglìng) means 'order/command.'
