The left-over-right crossed collar (交领右衽) is the defining feature of Han Chinese dress. Right-over-left (左衽) was historically used only for the dead or for 'barbarians' - Confucius even praised 管仲 for saving the Zhou from having to wear their hair loose and their robes left-over-right (《论语·宪问》).
