交领右衽) is the defining feature of Han Chinese dress. Right-over-left (
左衽) was historically used only for the dead or for 'barbarians' — Confucius even praised Guan Zhong for saving the Zhou from having to wear their hair loose and their robes left-over-right (《
论语·
宪问》).
