登高》(Du Fu, Tang, 767 CE), written at Kuizhou in his final years:
潦倒新停浊酒杯 (Wind sharp, sky high, gibbon cries mournful; sandbanks white, birds wheel back. Boundless falling leaves rustle down; the endless Yangtze comes rolling on. Ten-thousand-li autumn sorrow, forever a traveler; a century of illness, alone I climb the terrace...). Traditionally called the 'greatest seven-character regulated verse of all time.'
