Dragon boat racing (
赛龙舟) is a key tradition of the Dragon Boat Festival (
端午节), held on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month. Legend says it originated from people racing boats to search for the poet Qu Yuan (
屈原) after he drowned himself in the Miluo River.
