Going home after graduation — truly 'with spring as my companion, it's a good time to return.'
Tips
history
From 杜甫 Du Fu 《闻官军收河南河北》, written in 763 when Du Fu heard the An Lushan Rebellion was finally suppressed: 白日放歌须纵酒,青春作伴好还乡 — 'in the bright day I must sing aloud and drink deep; with spring as my companion, it's a fine time to return home.' Du Fu's most exuberant poem.
usage
还 here is huán (to return), not hái. 青春 here = spring season (its original classical meaning), not 'youth' as in modern Mandarin. Usually quoted with the preceding 白日放歌须纵酒.
