雚 is an archaic bird name not used independently in modern Chinese. It survives as the phonetic in 灌 (to irrigate), 鹳 (stork), 罐 (jar / can), 观 (to observe), and 欢 (joyful).

Literary and archaic. One older tradition also reads 雚 as 'steps / steep slope'; the bird sense is the one that explains its phonetic family.
