赋得 at the start of a title marks a poem on a set topic, often an exam exercise; here the topic was grass on an old plain, and a farewell. The poem is often called just 《
草》. Its first lines are the ones everyone knows:
离离原上草,
一岁一枯荣 'thick grass on the plain, each year it withers and thrives'.
