usage
谢绝 is a polite, formal way to refuse - more courteous than 拒绝 (to reject). It is frequently seen on signs: 谢绝参观 (no visitors), 谢绝拍照 (no photography), 谢绝吸烟 (no smoking). The 谢 (thank/apologize) softens the refusal.
