Tips

culture
Real name Jiang Zhong (), nicknamed 门神 ('door-god') for his towering build. Chapter 29 of 《水浒传》 — 武松蒋门神 ('Wu Song, drunk, beats Jiang Menshen') — is a set-piece of Chinese martial-fiction: Wu Song deliberately drinks at every tavern on the way to Happy Grove to limber up, then demolishes Jiang with the 'jade-ring step' () and 'mandarin-duck leg' (鸳鸯) kick-combination.
memory
门神 = 'gate god' — the paired warrior figures pasted on Chinese New Year doors to ward off evil. Jiang earns the nickname from his bulk; Wu Song unmasks him as a paper tiger.
