花 (huā) 'flower' + 台 (tái) 'platform/terrace' — a raised brick or stone platform for planting flowers, typical of traditional courtyards (四合院 sìhéyuàn) and parks.

In classical literature 花台 was also a euphemism for a brothel — a 'flower platform' as a metaphor for a place of pleasure women. This sense is archaic and won't come up in modern usage.
