The opening line of Mao Zedong's October 1935 poem
七律·
长征 (Seven-character verse: The Long March):
红军不怕远征难,
万水千山只等闲 ('the Red Army fears no hardship of the long march, ten thousand rivers and mountains are nothing'). Written on the eve of the march's victory, it is a classic poem in mainland Chinese language education.
