Slightly more formal than 眼病 (yǎnbìng), which means the same thing. 眼疾 is preferred in medical writing and news; 眼病 is more conversational.

Don't confuse with the unrelated 眼疾手快 (yǎnjí shǒu kuài, 'sharp-eyed and quick-handed'), where 疾 means 'fast,' not 'illness.'
