Tips

usage
瓦加斯 renders 'Vargas' sound by sound: 瓦 'Var-', 加 '-ga-', 斯 '-s'. A Spanish speaker's Vargas usually becomes 巴尔加斯 instead, because Spanish v sounds like b: the Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa is 马里奥·巴尔加斯·略萨.
