Original name Chen Shaoyu (陈绍禹). Led the '28 Bolsheviks' faction of Moscow-trained cadres who briefly controlled the CCP in the early 1930s. Lost the power struggle with Mao at the Zunyi Conference (1935) and eventually died in exile in the Soviet Union.
