科 = biological 'family'. Chinese taxonomy uses a fixed pattern:
界门纲目科属种 (kingdom / phylum / class / order / family / genus / species).
牛科 is Bovidae - cattle, sheep, goats, antelopes, buffalo. Note this differs from
鹿科 (deer, Cervidae), whose antlers are shed yearly.
