燧 (suì) on its own means 'fire-starting tool / flint' — it has the
火 (fire) radical. Add
石 (stone) and you get
燧石: literally 'fire-starter stone' = flint. The same character appears in
燧人氏 (Suìrénshì), the legendary Chinese culture-hero who gave humans fire.
