Fuling is world-famous for
涪陵榨菜, the pickled mustard-root relish served with rice porridge across China. It's also where American writer Peter Hessler taught English 1996-1998, the setting of his book "River Town" (《
江城》), one of the most widely-read foreign accounts of 1990s China.
