泊 here is 'to moor a boat', not
泊 'lake'. The word came into Mandarin from Hong Kong Cantonese, where it is the ordinary word for parking and sounds close to English 'park'. Mainland speech says
停车;
泊车 lives on in
代客泊车 (valet parking) and
自动泊车 (self-parking).
