Sha Tin (沙田) is one of Hong Kong's nine 'new towns', built up from the 1970s on reclaimed land along the Shing Mun River. It is home to Sha Tin Racecourse, the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, and the giant New Town Plaza shopping mall. The Cantonese reading is 'Sa Tin'.
