Tips

culture
His gold was the first in 15 years: the juries of 1990 and 1995 found no one good enough for first prize. Alongside 郎朗, he is the pianist most often held up as a model to Chinese children learning the piano.
usage
A day after his detention the China Musicians Association cancelled his membership. A performer with a record like this is called a 劣迹艺人 'tainted entertainer', and such a scandal is filed under 失德, 'moral failure'.
