月台 is the standard term in mainland China for a railway platform. In Taiwan and some older usage,
站台 (zhàntái) or
月台 are both used. The word originates from
月 (moon) +
台 (platform) - historically a raised terrace for moon-viewing that was repurposed to name train platforms.
