Tips

culture
Known above all from 王安石's New Year poem 《元日》: 千门万户曈曈日,总把新桃换旧符 'on a thousand gates the bright new sun; every house swaps old peach-wood charms for new'. Some editions write 瞳瞳.
memory
曈 is the sun 日 with 童 giving the sound. With the eye 目 instead, 瞳 is the pupil of the eye.
