From Wang Anshi's (
王安石, Northern Song)
《元日》:
爆竹声中一岁除,春风送暖入屠苏。千门万户曈曈日,总把新桃换旧符 (In firecracker din, the old year ends; spring wind warms the tusu wine. Bright sun on a thousand gates, always changing the peach-charms new for old.) Written in 1069, the year Wang began his reform program - the peach-charm symbolism doubles as his political renewal.
